Frequently asked questions

Many factors can affect the dental coverage your insurance plan provides. With that in mind, we recommend reaching out to your insurance provider before setting up an appointment at our office.

Speaking with your provider beforehand will give you an idea of the products or services your provider will cover and reduce the risk of unexpected costs.

You can obtain dental insurance and other health insurance packages through most full-time employers. However, when you receive coverage through your employer, you may only have a few options regarding the dental benefits you receive and who your insurance provider is.

With that in mind, you can also apply for insurance individually. While getting insurance on your own usually costs more, you have more control over your provider and coverage options.

Any general dentist-recommended service included under your health insurance plan is an insurance-covered benefit.

You can contact your provider to learn more about the dental services your insurance plan covers. In addition, you can call Blyholder Family Dentistry to learn about the specific services and benefits our clinic offers.

(PPO) and (HMO) plans are the most common types of insurance coverage. However, there are differences between the two plans.

  1. PPO Plans: Preferred provider organization insurance covers some or all of your dental services. While the exact coverage varies based on the client and the provider, most insurance companies will pay for half of the significant procedures like dental crowns and root canals and up to 100% of the cost of dental cleanings and standard examinations.
  2. HMO Plans:  Health Maintenance Organization plans generally do not cover the cost of dental procedures. Instead, patients with an HMO insurance plan receive a monthly reimbursement for their health operations. Additionally, HMO dental insurance only allows you to access clinics within the plan’s network.
